Scaffold Safety

Course Overview

The purpose of this course is to understand the principles of working safely on and surrounding scaffolds utilized in construction, maintenance, and industrial environments as well as the practicalities involved.
Scaffolds are temporary work platforms and they constitute a large proportion of work place injuries and fatalities. This course is based on OSHA Standard 29 CFR 1926 Subpart L, which deals with scaffolds and takes a holistic approach to scaffolding – design, inspection, erection, dismantling, and safe work practices.
The course teaches students to recognize hazards present on scaffolds, describe the safety systems designed to contain workplace falls, and the best safety practices to work with scaffolds in order to prevent falls, structural failures, and incidents.
